Mr Universe 2013 Lee Priest | Overall Winner Results | Lee Priest 2013

Mr Universe 2013 Lee Priest

Mr Universe 2013 Lee Priest

The 2013 Mr. Universe contest was an NABBA (National Amateur Bodybuilders Association) title held in London.

It was the 49th Mr. Universe competition. Other events at the exhibition included the Miss Figure ( winner Flora Conte).

Lee Priest winner for  year 2013.
The Wallsend bodybuilder’s victory will add his name to the list of winners that also includes Arnold Schwarzenegger.

“All the greats have won it,” Priest said. “Winning has still not sunk in.”

Lee Andrew Priest McCutcheon becomes the second Australian Mr Universe in the title’s history. His win also means the Hunter can now lay claim to both a Mr and Ms Universe after Jennifer Hawkins won her title in 2004.
Competing in America until 2006 as Lee Priest, Priest retired from professional bodybuilding that year and returned to the Hunter. His career included numerous titles as well as providing the motion for special effects designers to build the Incredible Hulk in the 2003 movie starring Eric Bana.

When organisers asked him to compete in Mr Universe, Priest said he started training “6-7 hours a day”. About four hours of that was weightlifting, he said, while the remainder was cardio exercise including walking around Newcastle beaches.
Celebrating the win, he allowed himself a cup of tea and a biscuit before heading back to the gym the following morning. He also got a tattoo to mark the comeback win.

“It’s a phoenix,” he said. “That’s me rising from the ashes.”

Listening to mellow music and talk radio while he trains, Priest said he looked forward to returning to the region after seminars and appearances in Europe.

“I just can’t wait to get back to Newcastle to go walking around our beautiful beaches,” he said.

Returning to the region’s restaurants would also offer a treat after a tightly – controlled diet in the lead-up to the competition.

“No more boiled chicken and rice for a while,” Priest said.
